Communication

We believe communication is at the center of a successful relationship. We operate under the strict rule that you will remain in the communication loop with regard to all findings, treatment, and recommendations made for your patient entrusted to us. If we ever fall short of that mark, we need to know. An open line of communication can overcome most any misunderstanding.

Sometimes we are faced with a client expressing frustration with you because their pet has not improved under your care. In those cases we help them to understand that each pet, like humans, responds differently to treatments and that their pet is one that needs extra help. We gently remind them that you were concerned enough about their pet’s treatment plan to refer to a veterinarian who does nothing but treat patients with special needs, and we tell them that we are in close communication with you regarding follow up care.

One of our most difficult dilemmas is when we face a client who has been referred to us by someone other than their Family Veterinarian. Those clients frequently express a loss of trust in their veterinarian stating they were never told of their options by the one person who they thought would know best. The Family Veterinarian is notified immediately of the pending appointment so communication does not deteriorate further and we encourage these clients to go back and discuss their concerns. Over the years, we have found that clients are most satisfied when they are educated about ALL their options and allowed to make an informed decision. Regardless of how a client comes to us, we will continue to direct them “home” to their Family Veterinarian.

We believe that the only true way for both parties to be successful and achieve a winning outcome is to join together with respect and communication as we serve the best interest of patient and client.

Continuing Education

Our building layout has given us the opportunity to present regular CE presentations in a relaxed and convenient setting. Our presentations have covered a wide range of subjects and given by nationally known speakers as well as by our own clinicians. Each topic is submitted to the Indiana Licensing Board and approved for CE Credit Hours. Our presentations usually have a theme surrounding them to bring a little fun into the mix and we always provide dinner and drinks to make the evening complete. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and we welcome you to come join us for some fun along with education.
